We would like to thank Makino for giving us the rare opportunity to visit their factory in Tuas. The visit through the plant was an eye opener and we enjoyed the visit as we got to see for ourselves the many great and impressive engineering products that were developed by Makino through much hardwork.
We would like to thank Ann from the Singapore University of Technology and Design for contributing to the list of project ideas and possible research areas.
Timothy:
Finally, what I feel is that Makino is a very important company as they provide a lot of services for people as deserve to be commended. Their devotion as emphasis in the R & D department is also very impressive as they place around 80-90 people in that department to think out of new ideas and products everyday. For all of this, I truly wish Makino success in the future and thank them for the opportunity that they gave me.
Kevin Tan:
In conclusion, I must say that I have learnt numerous things. Be it in the scientific area of the different kinds of engineering or in the other areas of work ethics, these trips have really been eye-opening. I would like to thank Mrs. Eileen Tan, Mdm. Chan and Mr. Toh for making these trips possible, the various factory managers and engineers for taking time off their busy schedule to host students, the various companies and the EDB (Economic Development Board) for supporting and organizing these industrial visits.
Titus:
The Makino trip was really interesting, as most of us saw the manufacturing process with our own eyes for the first time, and the methods and procedures in ensuring precision in the Makino machines were an eye-opener. I would like to thank Makino for hosting us and providing first hand experience at such manufacturing companies, with wonderful refreshments as a bonus, and exposure to manufacturing and application of scientific concepts in school.
Wong Yan Zhi:
The visit was an eye-opener for me and it was the first time I was exposed to the world of precision engineering. I would like to thank Makino for giving us the opportunity to tour their factory, and it was an experience that could not be gained in class. This experience is unforgettable and it has left a deep impression for me. I also learned a lot from the engineers' experiences.
Takashima Kenji:
The trip was really enriching and allowed us to learn much about the machine-manufacturing industry. It really broadened our scope and allowed us to view the manufacturing sector from a different perspective. I would like to thank all engineers for sharing their experiences and giving us insight into the operations of the company, and for all teachers in-charge for making this enriching journey possible.
